Dinsy Terms of Use

Last updated: 17 August 2026

These terms govern your use of the Dinsy iOS app ("Dinsy", "the app", "we", "us"). Dinsy is operated by Michael Turner, trading as Dinsy, based in Queensland, Australia. By downloading or using Dinsy, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What Dinsy does

Dinsy is a meal-planning app for Australian and New Zealand households. You tell it your supermarket, budget, household size, and dietary needs, and it uses AI to generate a week of dinners and a matching shopping list. Some features are free; others require a Dinsy Plus subscription (see 4. Subscriptions).

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Dinsy (matching its App Store age rating), and you must be able to form a legally binding contract. If you're under 18, that means having a parent or guardian's permission. Dinsy is intended for use by people responsible for household grocery shopping and is not directed at children.

3. Your account

You create your Dinsy account by signing in with Google or with Apple. We never create or store a Dinsy password — your Google or Apple account is how you get back in, including on a new device. Keep that provider account secure; anyone who can use it can access your Dinsy data. You're responsible for the accuracy of what you enter into Dinsy (including household members' dietary information — see section 5). You can delete your account and its server-side data at any time from Settings → "delete my data." Accounts created under the app's earlier anonymous model continue to work under these same terms.

4. Subscriptions

Free features

Without a subscription, you can set up your preferences, generate a week of dinners (your dinner names and days are always shown clearly; photos and other details appear blurred until you subscribe), see the week's estimated cost against your budget, and use the full aisle-sorted shopping list — including the "already have it" pantry pass and check-off tracking. Plan generation (free and Plus alike) is capped at 10 generations per week, a fair-use limit — if this cap ever changes, we'll label it honestly in the app rather than hide it.

Dinsy Plus

Dinsy Plus unlocks:

5. Meal plans, recipes, and price estimates — please read this carefully

Dinsy's meal plans and recipes are AI-generated suggestions, not professional advice.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that breach this section.

7. Intellectual property

Dinsy, its name, branding, character, design, and underlying software are owned by us (or our licensors) and protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own household meal planning. You don't get any ownership rights in the app itself. Generated meal plans and recipes are provided for your personal use; we don't claim ownership over the fact that you cooked a given dish, but the specific written recipe text and plan as generated by Dinsy remain part of the service we provide, not something you can redistribute commercially.

8. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (or equivalent New Zealand consumer protection law) that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified. Where our services fail to meet a consumer guarantee that can't be excluded, our liability is limited (to the extent the law allows) to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied. Everything else in these terms — including the disclaimers in 5. and the liability limits in 9. — applies only to the extent the law permits.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Dinsy is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law (and subject always to 8. Australian Consumer Law):

10. Changes to the app and these terms

We may update Dinsy's features and these terms over time as the app develops. We'll update the "Last updated" date when we do, and we'll flag material changes (like a change to subscription pricing or what Plus includes) in the app. Continuing to use Dinsy after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Termination

You can stop using Dinsy at any time by deleting the app (and cancelling any active subscription separately via your Apple ID, per 4. Subscriptions). We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia (where Dinsy's operator is based), without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where a consumer's local law (e.g. NZ consumer protection law) mandatorily applies and cannot be excluded.
